Policies

Our goal at Pine Haven Cottages is to provide an enjoyable and affordable vacation experience in a Christian and conservative family environment. We recognize that some may not share our Christian values.  However, we do expect that these values will be respected by all of our guests.

Payment and Cancellations:

  • The deposit is due at the time of your booking.  A booking will not be confirmed until the deposit is received.  The deposit amount for weekly rentals is $300 for cottages up to $1500/week and is $400 for cottages over $1500/week.
  • The balance for your cottage rental is due four weeks prior to your check-in date.
  • Deposits are non-refundable unless we are able to fill that spot.  In that case, we will refund your deposit, less a $100 administration fee.  If cancellation is less than four weeks prior to check-in, you are liable for the full rental amount unless we are able to rent out your cottage to someone else ($100 cancellation fee still applies).
  • Payment can be made by e-transfer or by mailed cheque.  A booking confirmation email will be sent to you with a link to our booking form.  Please refer to this email for e-transfer and cheque information (email address and mailing address).

Conduct and Behaviour Policies:

  • Absolutely no smoking/vaping in the cottages. If smoking outside, please do not litter.  Cigarette butts must be properly disposed of.
  • The use of recreational marijuana (cannabis) is prohibited on the property.
  • Please refrain from excessive drinking – drunken behavior will not be tolerated on the property.
  • Out of consideration for our youngest guests, please keep noise levels down after 10:00 pm.
  • To promote a family atmosphere and out of consideration for the values/beliefs of other guests, please keep all swimwear/clothing modest and please refrain from using vulgar or profane language.

Housekeeping Policies and Information:

  • Check-in time for summer stays is Saturday at 1:00 pm. Check-out time is Saturday at 10:00 am.  If you choose to arrive earlier than 1:00, please check with one of the owners on site to determine if your cottage is ready for you.
  • Please clean your cottage before checking out, leaving it in the condition in which you found it.  This includes:
    • Cleaning kitchen and bathroom
    • Sweeping/mopping all floors
    • Cleaning any windows/doors to remove finger prints, etc.
    • Taking out and properly disposing of all garbage and recycling
  • Guests are not permitted to bring pets due to allergy and cleanliness concerns.
  • Bedding is not provided. Guests must bring their own sheets, pillows and blankets.  Fitted bottom sheets are required – no sleeping directly on the mattress cover.
  • Guests must also bring their own bath and beach towels, dish towels, etc.

Property Use Information:

  • Day guests/visitors are only permitted under certain circumstances and by special permission.  Extra charges may apply.  Please contact us for more information.
  • Tents are not permitted on the property.  If you require a cottage with more space, consider renting the Lodge (either the whole building or half of it – see accommodations page for more info).
  • Canoes and kayaks are available for the use of our guests.  However, you must provide your own lifejackets.  Ensure that all safety guidelines required by Transport Canada are adhered to and please properly stow the vessel upon return.
  • There is no lifeguard on duty.  Guests are responsible for their own safety and that of their children.
  • Motor boats may not be launched from our beach.  There is a boat ramp just up the road.
  • To keep noise levels down and to help maintain a peaceful atmosphere, we ask that guests NOT bring/use personal watercraft (Jet Skis, Seadoos, Waverunners).
  • Camp fires are permitted in the provided fire pits only.  All fires must be extinguished with water when not supervised.  All cottagers must abide by the local fire danger rating. If a fire ban is issued by the local fire department, then NO camp fires are allowed.
  • Whether using the beach, our canoes/kayaks/boats, the playground or any other area of the property, guests are responsible for their own safety and the safety of their children.  Please use the property safely and responsibly and monitor your children at all times.
  • As we rake the beach on Saturday mornings (during the summer season), please help us by cleaning up the beach on Friday evenings.  This includes packing up your sand toys and lawn chairs, cleaning up any garbage, filling in large holes and cleaning up any rocks or other items placed on the beach during the week.

Rebooking for the following summer:

While we try to allow our guests to rebook the same spot(s) for the following summer, please note that we do NOT have an official rebooking policy that guarantees this privilege.   There are two main reasons for this:

  1. This property is not just a rental property, it is also a space that our owner families like to enjoy together.  As such, certain weeks/cottages may not be eligible for rebooking.   We apologize for any disappointment this may cause.
  2. Some families may have difficulty in following or adhering to our posted instructions and policies.  In order to keep things running smoothly for ourselves and our other guests, we may have to make the difficult decision of not extending an invitation to rebook.

All guests agree to release Pine Haven Cottages from liability against any and all loss, claims, actions, damages, costs, expenses, personal injury, damage to property or any other loss or injury arising from any occurrence while at our property. Pine Haven Cottages reserves the right to deny any rental request.
